The wait is finally over. After thirteen years since Grand Theft Auto V hit shelves, Rockstar has officially set Grand Theft Auto 6’s release for Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders started June 25, 2026, with the standard edition priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, setting what analysts call a new price benchmark for AAA games.

In an unexpected move, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 launches as a strictly single-player experience, with no online mode shipping with the game and no announcement about a multiplayer component arriving on day one. This departure from the GTA Online juggernaut mirrors how GTA V launched back in 2013, though there’s no confirmed date, no confirmed format, and no clear signal that the online component is coming soon after launch rather than much later.

Global preorders totaled an estimated $260 million, according to analytics firm Newzoo, signaling the potential for $4.5 billion in sales by launch week. Industry analysts have previously predicted that the game could sell upwards of 25 million copies on day one and generate $7.6 billion in revenue in the first 60 Days of its launch.

With the countdown officially on and digital preloads starting November 12, the stage is set for what could be gaming’s biggest launch ever. Will you be playing day one, or waiting for the inevitable online mode?
