Rockstar Games Confirms GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix as November Launch Approaches

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Netflix subscribers will have the chance to watch an extended first look at Grand Theft Auto VI six hours before anyone else, on Aug. 27. The presentation will premiere on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.

Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, this extended look showcases the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet. The timing proves strategic, as Rockstar Games recently responded to the wave of GTA 6 gameplay leaks that surfaced online over the past week, with this Netflix stream being Rockstar’s first opportunity to show Grand Theft Auto 6 on its own terms.

The company acknowledges the premature gameplay footage, calling the leaks heartbreaking for the team and labeling it an understatement to describe how drastically the incident has hurt the studio. Rockstar Games reaffirmed that the GTA 6 release date is still November 19, 2026 and will not be delayed as a result of the leaks.

Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction Series at Netflix, noted that the anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders now live worldwide.

Will this unprecedented Netflix partnership reshape how major game studios reveal their titles, or does the personal connection between developers and fans demand a different approach?
