Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Steps Into the Jungle With Strong Launch Numbers

Expression Games and Team17’s 100-player tactical shooter went live globally on August 13, 2026, and promptly topped 30,000 concurrent Steam players, marking one of the franchise’s biggest launches. The standalone Vietnam War sequel builds on the success of its World War II predecessor, transporting the signature 50v50 combined-arms warfare into dense jungles and unforgiving Southeast Asian terrain.

The recent large-scale open beta test attracted over 352,000 unique players, with DAU peaking at over 184,000, demonstrating massive community interest ahead of launch. Following its release, the game has sold an estimated 869.7K copies on Steam, with an estimated $20.9M in gross revenue. Developer Expression Games has wasted no time supporting the title post-launch, with update 1.2 releasing on August 21 with over 500 fixes as the team continues polishing the experience.

Reception has been mixed but promising. Critics who reviewed it ahead of launch came in at a solid 78 on Metacritic, while Steam reviews currently hold a Mixed rating with 60.25% positive reviews from over 9,333 total reviews. The developers have already outlined an ambitious roadmap, promising new weapons and expanded helicopter gameplay in September’s upcoming patch.

Have you deployed to the jungles yet? What are your first impressions of the Vietnam setting compared to the original?
