GAMESCOM 2026 MAKES HISTORY WITH COMPLETE SELLOUT

Gamescom 2026 has completely sold out of all available exhibition space for the first time, marking an unprecedented milestone for the world’s largest gaming event. The convention sold out all 233,000 square meters of its exhibition floor for the first time in 18 editions, with 1,600-plus exhibitors confirmed.

This historic achievement signals extraordinary demand from the gaming industry following the steady post-pandemic recovery. Last year’s event drew 357,000 visitors, surpassing the 2019 pre-pandemic peak for the first time, building momentum that has now overwhelmed available capacity. Gamescom director Tim Endres called the complete booking “a strong signal for the entire industry”, particularly impressive considering the venue expanded just last year.

Several major exhibitors have joined the lineup, including Konami, Tencent Games, Embark Studios, and Level Infinite, complementing previously confirmed industry giants like Xbox, Nintendo, EA, Capcom, and CD Projekt Red. Opening Night Live with host Geoff Keighley and co-host Eefje “sjokz” Depoortere officially opens the festival on August 25, where millions of viewers worldwide can look forward to new announcements and world premieres.

Organizers are already working on expansion concepts for 2027 to accommodate the overwhelming demand that has officially outgrown even the world’s largest gaming convention floor.

Will this capacity crunch force other gaming events to expand their footprints, or has Gamescom captured lightning in a bottle that competitors cannot replicate?
