Codemasters releases Dizzy – Prince of the Yolkfolk for Android

General

Codemasters dropped a fun little retro game into the market a few days ago with Dizzy -Prince of the Yolkfolk. According to the story, Dizzy and his Egg girl Daisy are trying to make a pie when all hell breaks loose and the adventure begins. You’ll need to help Dizzy catch a fluffle, ditch the troll, wake up Daisy, and find some cherries so they can finish up that pie.

As the adventure begins you’ll see some icons appear on the screen, and these will be your main way to control Dizzy. The controls are simple and give you the ability to walk or jump left and right; there is also an action button that you’ll use to pick up or use items, and interact with people and animals. In a nutshell, you’ll walk around picking up objects and using them on puzzles as you come across them. Your goal is to get to Daisy, but it’s not going to be easy as you’re going to have to help lions, bust boulders, and even bribe Grim Reaper. Dizzy -Prince of Yolkfolk doesn’t have much to offer in the form of extras, but they do use Openfeint which gives you 16 achievements to unlock.

Dizzy -Prince of the Yolkfolk is a quirky little puzzle game that fans of the original will be pleased with and newcomers should like as well. At first you might think it’s going to be a straightforward walk, jump, and push things kind of game, but the inventory system and puzzles add a nice layer of depth to the game. Overall, it’s a cool retro adventure/puzzle game that folks should definitely check out. There is no free version available right now, but you can get the full version of Dizzy -Prince of the Yolkfolk for the low price of $1.99.
