Title: STAR WARS Zero Company Defies Skeptics with Massive Steam Launch
Date: August 31, 2026
Just days after launch, STAR WARS Zero Company has proven that turn-based tactics can thrive in a franchise known for lightsaber action. The Bit Reactor title set a new high concurrent Steam player count, surpassing both the narrative-driven Jedi Survivor and multiplayer shooter Battlefront II. The game peaked at a staggering 69,046 concurrent players on Steam, outpacing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s peak of 67,855 players by nearly 6,000 concurrent users.
Ahead of the release date, critics questioned its mainstream appeal, noting that the most popular Star Wars games typically embrace the cinematic action-adventure genre. However, the turn-based tactical strategy experience has won over skeptics. Developed by XCOM veterans at Bit Reactor, the game earned strong critical acclaim with a Metacritic average of 86 percent on PC from 42 reviews, 84 percent on PS5, and 87 percent on other platforms.
Steam reviews reflect a Mostly Positive rating with 78 percent of 7,112 user reviews being positive, though frame-rate dips remain a problem on PC and consoles, including the PS5 Pro, with occasional crashes disrupting battle plans.
