Softcouch releases Alone with Towers for Android

General

Overview

Alone with Towers is a new Android Game from Softcouch that takes a unique approach to the classic Tower Defense genre. The game isn’t really a TD game at all, but some sort of hybrid that takes elements from 3rd person shooters and Tower Defense games and combines them into something new.

Alone with Towers takes place in a space station that’s been overrun with monsters, and your job is to take them out. You can do that by running and blasting ala 3rd person shooter or by placing towers like you would in a TD game. It’s a very interesting way to play and I can tell you first hand that it can be a lot of fun. That being said, there are some pretty large issues in the game and while I won’t go into them all I would highly suggest the developers slap a “Beta” tag on the game. The graphics, sound effects, atmosphere and overall concept are all great, but there are a lot of areas that need work which is why I’m suggesting a Beta tag for now.

Verdict

Alone with Towers is a game that could be awesome if things get straightened out. Softcouch looks to be a new team of developers, so I’m going to cut them a break and “assume” that this isn’t the final form of the game. You can check it out for yourself if you’d like, it worked for me about 50% of the time so you may get some action in before the FC issues hit. I’ll keep an eye on this one, and let you all know when and if there are fixes for the game.
