Escape from Tarkov Explodes on Twitch with Historic Kord Breach Season Launch
Escape from Tarkov’s enormous 1.1.0 patch launched on August 3rd, introducing the game’s first season called Kord Breach, themed entirely around the Black Division faction. The update has triggered a massive surge in viewership, with the hardcore extraction shooter jumping 727.7 percent in seven-day Twitch viewership and claiming 89,047 average concurrent viewers, making it the third most-watched game on the platform.
This marks the most major update to hit the game since November 2025, changing many things about the core experience with an overhaul to the side task system, balancing changes, and new core mechanics like a spectator camera. Unlike traditional wipes that reset everyone’s progress, Kord Breach is an optional opportunity to create and progress a separate seasonal character without completely wiping your main character, allowing players to continue using their permanent PvP character instead.
The season is expected to run for about six months until the next major content update, offering a free battle pass available to players in both PvP and PvE modes. The seasonal system introduces character modifiers that let players customize their experience with unique perks and drawbacks, creating fresh gameplay opportunities for veterans and newcomers alike.
