Every summer a new batch of animated 3D movies come out, and these days almost all of them have movie tie-in games. Epic is the latest movie to go the Android game route, and it’s a building game with a hefty dose of battling.
Epic follows the plight of the Jinn Kingdom as they try to stop the Boggans and their terrible blight. They’re slowly killing the forest, and it’s up to you to stop them and make the forest green again by building up the Jinn Kingdom to its former glory. Building your village is just half the battle though, as you’ll constantly need to defend Jinn and it’s villagers from attacks. You’ll do this with the Leafman warriors, and while the battles are mostly simulated, you do get a measure of control over the combatants. There are around 90 battles in Epic’s campaign, and you can go up against other Leafman armies in PVP battle mode.
Gameloft has consistently cranked out games based on films, and while I may not agree with their freemium model, they make some great looking games. Epic is no exception as it’s a slick looking battle builder that ties in nicely to the film. I haven’t spent enough time with the game to know how bad the IAP setup is, but it’s there, looming in the background like always. If you’re ready to help Queen Tara save the Jinn, you can head on over to Google Play and pick up Epic for free.
