Uncade releases Retro Platformer Kid Vector for Android

General

Uncade first caught my attention with their game Blast Ball, and since then they’ve released a couple of more interesting Android games including their latest title Kid Vector.

Kid Vector is a new Retro platform game that’s about as old-school as you could possibly get. The developers have dubbed it a 2.5d game and after a brief whirl in games vector world I’d have to agree. In Kid Vector you play the hero who’s basically a stick man with a square head and hat, and your job is to get him through the vector worlds of the game in once piece. The controls are very simple; you have left & right arrows for movement along with a jump button which also lets you double jump, but that’s basically it. You’ll need to make it from point A to point B in as little time as possible, and collect every coin you can find along the way. Kid Vector has 15 killer retro levels to take on, and while there are no leaderboards or extras you can get badges for collecting all the coins on a level.

Verdict

Kid Vector is a nice little retro platformer with awesome graphics, but it’s also hampered by a few things that will kill this little gem… price point and length. It’s a very short game with only 15 levels and while I personally think it’s worth 2 bucks, I don’t think the average gamer will. That being said, I am a fan of Uncade and have thoroughly enjoyed 2 out of their 3 games that are out (haven’t played the 3rd), but I really hope they change their strategy a bit as I’d love to see their games get more notice by a larger audience. If you love retro platformers you’ll want to pick this one up regardless of its length and I hopefully a few of you will. You can grab Kid Vector for $1.99 on Google Play.
