Like fast paced physics-based flyers? If so, you’ll definitely dig Dr. Rocket from Rippleware. If you’ve got quick reflexes and a keen eye you might be able to guide the good doctor through the universe, but if your attention drops for even a second you may end up being another pile of space junk.
You are Dr. Rocket, an oddball inventor with a penchant for rockets and coins. The good doctor designed a slick pair of rocket shoes, and you’ll use those shoes to zoom through the levels and pick up coins. Controlling your rocket doc is easy, and you’ll be given two different ways to do that with tilt or touch controls. Your goal for each level is to finish as quickly as possible while snagging coins and avoiding obstacles like space junk, planes, and asteroids. At the end of each level you’re given 1-3 stars and a score based on how quickly you complete level. Dr. Rocket is very light in the extras department as there are only a handful of options and no achievements or high-score tables that I could see.
Verdict
Dr. Rocket is a nice little quick-play game with a simple premise and slick graphics. It’s an easy game to play, but at first glance it does seem a bit short as there seems to be only 20 levels. That being said usually when a game has “Free” in the title there’s a paid or full version forthcoming so there may be more levels on the way. Either way, it’s a fun way to kill a little time and you can check it out for free on Google Play.
