Get Rolling with Frodo from TNGames

General

I’ve never seen a hedgehog in real life, but they seem to be popular in video games. Frodo is the latest hedgehog to get a game, and the folks at TNGames like him so much they gave him his own Android game. We all know that hedgehogs have short, stubby legs, but how about the game itself? Does Frodo have legs to stand on or will it roll its way into obscurity?

Your goal in Frodo is to get from point A to point B in as little time as possible. Accomplishing this is done through removing different objects, that combined with gravity will send your lil’ hedgehog rolling towards his home. It’s rarely a straight shot there though, and a timer is ticking so you’ll need to think and react quickly. Not all objects are removable through touch, but you’ll get some assistance with those items from your cannon. Certain levels have one or more cannons, and you’ll use a cannonball to break stones or push items out of the way. You can also roll into the cannon and fire yourself which you’ll do pretty regularly as the levels progress. I’m sure there are more little tricks in the game, but I only played through the 7 level demo. There are no extras to speak of, but Frodo does keep a running tally of your score and it’s got a damned catchy theme song if you dig whistling.

Verdict

Frodo is a simple, but fun physics puzzler that anyone should be able to pick up and play. I was able to blow through the demo fairly quickly once I got the hang of things, but I’m guessing the rest of the game is tougher. The free version of Frodo gives you 7 levels to try, while the full version will give you 40 for $0.99 cents. Frodo is a game definitely worth a look, and you check it out on Google Play.
