After more than a decade of anticipation, the countdown to Grand Theft Auto 6 has entered its final stretch. Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on October 15, confirming the game remains scheduled to arrive on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. At roughly 90 seconds, the trailer is much shorter than the 26-minute Extended Look Rockstar shared in August.
The industry response has been staggering. According to Sensor Tower’s report, GTA 6 pre-orders have sold around 6.45 million copies across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X S, as of October 23, 2026. That translates to about $630 million in revenue, with PlayStation 5 taking the clear lead, having sold 4.8 million copies already. More impressively, digital pre-orders sit 148 percent higher than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 managed at an identical distance from its launch.
Rockstar remains confident that GTA 6 will indeed launch on November 19, 2026, with co-studio lead Rob Nelson expressing no reservations that the game would hit its targeted release date despite the title having already undergone two delays from its original fall 2025 window.
With less than a month until launch, the gaming landscape is bracing for what could be the biggest entertainment release in years. Are you planning to take the day off when GTA 6 drops?
