Lots of games let you craft weapons, but how many let you be the Blacksmith? Nuclear Firecracker’s Blacksmith Story lets you step into the role of a blacksmith without all the fire and hard work.
Blacksmith Story is a game all about blacksmithing as you get to run a smithy where you’ll repair weapons and armor. The gameplay is pretty straightforward; people bring swords and shields into your shop where you buy them, repair them and then sell them or put them on display. You’ll need ore to repair weapons, and rarer ore to upgrade them so you’ll have to earn cash and you’ll have to earn it fast as there is a timer on every level. So far I’ve only been able to craft and upgrade swords and shields, but you have to assume other weapons come into play in the latter stages.
Blacksmith Story may not wow you with its graphics, but the concept is a cool one and pretty well executed from what I’ve seen. I’ve only played through the first handful of levels, but have unlocked a 2nd anvil so I’m hoping there’s a bit more to the game than meets the eye. It may be a little mundane for some folks, but it’s oddly addictive and worth checking out if you dig crafting or time management games.
