A very cool new Android game hit the market a few days back called New Star Soccer from New Star Games. This is no ordinary Soccer game though, as New Star Soccer is actually a Soccer Sim that’s fun enough to give Kariosoft a run for their money in the addictive department.
New Star Soccer puts you into the role of a young soccer player trying to work his way up to the professional league. You’ll have to balance training, playing games, and living life against your energy level as you try to raise your star rating and make it to the top. Your created player has 5 different skills to upgrade, but you can also buy soccer boots to further raise your stats when you get enough dough. You can also gamble, get a girlfriend, and deck your player out with vehicles, property, and luxury items like tablets, earrings, and gaming consoles. New Star Soccer has two modes of play with Arcade and Career mode with Career mode being where you’ll spend most of your time. There is a brief tutorial that shows you the basics of the game, but that’s about it in the extras department as there are no high scores or Openfeint. You really don’t need them in a game like this as it’s all about the experience and not the high-scores.
Verdict
I found New Star Soccer early this morning, and literally had to tear myself away from the game just to do this write-up. As a huge fan of sim games I may be a little biased, but this is a great game and I think folks with definitely dig it. I did hit a few minor glitches in the gameplay, but it was nothing major and I simply had to exit and re-enter the game. It doesn’t kill the game by any means, and they should get the kings worked out soon. If you enjoy a good simulation game or are a Soccer fan you need to pick this bad boy up.
