Overview
Enter the Darwinian world of a galactic mote. Absorb or be absorbed… That’s the tagline of a new Android game called Osmos HD from Hemisphere games, and it’s quite fitting considering the theme of the game. The iOS people have been enjoying this highly rated title for awhile, and now we finally get to see what all the fuss is about with the Android version.
In Osmos HD you’ll pilot your little “mote” and try to absorb motes smaller than you while avoiding the big ones. Every time you tap to move you’ll eject mass which makes you smaller, this makes things difficult if you overshoot your target and have a larger mote floating nearby. That’s really just a very basic description of the gameplay as Osmos is a game with a lot going on. The game has two different modes of play with Odyssey & Arcade with a total of 72 gorgeous levels between the two. Another thing that quickly stood out to me was the soundtrack which really sets the mood and sucks you right into the game.
Verdict
I’ve heard about Osmos HD for awhile now, and was really happy to finally see it come our way for Android. So far it has not disappointed as the graphics, gameplay, and soundtrack are all top-notch and frankly better than I expected. I’ll have a full review of the game up once I get through about half of it, until then you can check out the demo version of Osmos HD or pick up the full version for $2.99.
