Ratrod Studios has put out some pretty great sports games with Hockey Fight and Drift Mania Championship, and there latest Android game called Mike V: Skateboard Party looks to be their best yet. Yup, we finally have a “good” skateboarding game for Android and it’s actually not a Tony Hawk game.
Mike V: Skate Party is packed full of skating goodness with 8 different customizable characters, all of which have upgradable skills. There is also a large selection of boards, trucks, bearings, and wheels to choose from and you’re likely to recognize some of the brands like Powell & Peralta and Airwalk. The game also has two modes of play with Free Skate and Career mode; the latter has over 25 different achievements to unlock spread out across 5 different locations. No good skateboard game is complete without tricks though, and Mike V: Skateboard Party has plenty of those as well. You can learn & master 40 different tricks and hundreds of combinations to get high scores and gain experience as you progress.
As a fan of the classic Tony Hawk games I’ve been looking for a solid skateboarding game to play on my phone for awhile now. While I haven’t had a change to give the game a full run yet, so far I really like what I see. The graphics look great, the control setup is nice (and customizable), and the game as a whole has been a blast to play thus far. It seems to be a very polished game, and I think fans of skating games will definitely dig it. I plan on posting a full review when I can get a little further in the game, but I can already tell you this game’s a winner. There isn’t a free version available, but the full version can be had for $1.94.
