Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is one of the most popular and successful game franchises of all time. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6, the latest installment of the series. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming game.
While Rockstar Games has yet to confirm a release date for GTA 6, rumors suggest it may be coming in 2025. However, some sources speculate it could arrive a year earlier in 2024,
with Microsoft even mentioning a 2024 release in response to an investigation into its acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Speculation has been rampant about the location of GTA 6, but it appears that Vice City is the confirmed destination. Leaked gameplay footage has revealed a modern-day version of the iconic city, with nods to its past in GTA 3: Vice City.
The appearance of NPCs with modern clothing and smartphones further confirms the setting. Social media users have even spotted a reference to the death of a character from GTA 5, suggesting that the events of the new game take place after those of its predecessor.
One possible addition is a series of new stealth mechanics, as characters are shown crawling and carrying bodies. The weapon wheel from GTA 5 will also make a return, and there are indications of new health items like painkillers.
The Five Star 'Wanted' system is also set to return, with the VCPD having improved AI routines for tracking players who get on their radar.
It is expected that the graphics of GTA 6 will be significantly improved from the previous game, GTA 5. The game is also rumored to be exclusively released on next-generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
