I’ve never been a huge fan of Hidden Object games, so when I heard Herocraft was putting out a Scrubs themed hidden object game I wasn’t sure how that would go. Being as I am a huge fan of the show Scrubs I decided to give it a shot. Well, it didn’t take long before the game grew on me and I was surprised at how fun a hidden object game can be when it’s done right.
For a themed game like this to work it has to pull you in, and Scrubs doesn’t disappoint as it puts players directly into the storyline at Sacred Heart hospital. You start out helping the Janitor clean up the parking lot outside by finding sets of hidden objects. Once you’ve cleared that zone you move on to the next room, and the next part of the story. If you think Scrubs is a simple hidden object game you’d be wrong though, as they way Herocraft goes about it makes if difficult and quite a bit of fun.
As you progress through the game you’ll hunt random objects, items that go together, items by name without a picture, and outlines of objects. Some of the tasks can be pretty tough (especially the outline objects), but you can get some assistance from the games “hint” system through four different kinds of hints & bonuses. You can use Time freezers that stop the clock, arrow hints, general area hints, and double scoring. You start the game out with a set number of each, but can buy more via the in-app purchasing menu or by trading in vitamins.
Another part of the game I enjoyed is the random Mini-games scattered about. Each mini-game has 10 levels and once you complete one you can play it anytime from the main menu. The games are varied with a Blood Vessel game, Wheelchair racing, Match-3, Ping Pong, Injection, Costumes and Quiz. If that’s not enough you can go back through the game and replay any of the rooms you’ve completed which is great if you need to get some extra vitamins. As for those vitamins I keep bringing up, you’ll have to keep a keen eye out for them as they are in every room you go through but they’re translucent so they can be difficult to find.
When you take into account the 24 areas of the hospital, the way the items need to be found, and the mini-games you’ve got yourself one awesome (and deep) hidden object game. It doesn’t hurt that along the way you’ll get to see all the faces you know and love from the show like Turk, Carla, Elliot, and the omnipotent being known as the Janitor.
The Scrubs hidden object game has been a blast to play as it has plenty of depth, and a great storyline. Herocraft did an outstanding job working the show and it’s inside jokes into their game, and fans of Scrubs will thrilled to interact with their favorite characters around Sacred Heart. The only negative I could find about the game is that some objects can be very hard to find; a few of the puzzle stumped me, but I always got around it in the end. Personally, I liked the challenge but I can see how some people might feel that it’s a bit difficult. There is a light version of the game available, and the paid version is well worth the $1.99 price tag. If you’re a fan of the show or dig hidden object games I highly recommend you head on over to the market and check out Scrubs.
