Overview
I am a complete and utter fool for anything involving Gladiators or based in ancient Rome, so I was pretty excited to see a new Android game called Swords and Sandals pop up on Google Play. Gladiator games have been pretty sparse, and there are really only a few decent once out there at all. Will Swords and Sandals be as good as Blood & Glory? Read on to find out…
Swords and Sandals is about as far from Blood & Glory as you can get actually, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a lotta’ fun. The premise is generally the same with a few exceptions; Swords and Sandals has an actual storyline of sorts and it’s got more areas for players to interact with. You’ll get to customize you’re gladiator, battle in 6 different arenas and deck your warrior out with around 100 different weapons and pieces of armor. There’s a little tavern you can gamble in or you can head to the church to buy heal and buy elixirs, and when day changes into night you’ll have to decide whether to rest at the tavern or take your chances in the streets. If you’re ever watched a movie based in the days of the gladiator, you’ll know that nighttime in Rome can be quite dangerous.
Verdict
While I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first fired up Swords and Sandals, I was pleasantly surprised at what I’ve found so far. I’ve not played the game long enough to really get far into it yet, but so far the fights have been challenging and there seems to be plenty of depth in the game. There is a lite version of the game you can check out or you can go straight to the full version for $0.99 cents. If you want to give it a go you can find both versions of 3rd Sense’s Swords and Sandals on Google Play.
