Overview
Building games are all the rage and Glu Mobile just jumped on the bandwagon with a new game called Small Street. As you might have guessed, you’re going to build a tiny town and like most games of this nature you’ll have to manage everything and everyone to make it to the top.
If you’ve played Tiny Tower or Mall Story you’ll have no problem getting down to business in Small Street. You basically want to build up your town buy putting up different businesses and shops which attract new customers and residents. When people move in, you’ll have to find them jobs and each resident will have his or her own specialty. All the stores have to be maintained, restocked, and you’ll get bonuses for matching the right resident with the right store.
The game runs off of tasks, but you’re always free to build on your own if you’ve got the cash to do so. If you want to get ahead in the game you can buy coins & credits from the shop and the prices do seem fairly reasonable for once. Small Street doesn’t have levels, but it does have 40 different shops to build and 5 different types of businesses. The game also throws a little customization out there as you’re able to change the appearance of your residents anytime you wish.
Verdict
Small Street is a nice mash-up of several other Tower/Town building games, but still manages to add a few features to set it apart. I like the fact that your town spreads out instead of up, and the look of the game is very easy on the eyes. Glu also did a great job with the credit/coin earning system this time around as you’re able to earn plenty of coins and credits and shouldn’t have to buy many unless you really want to. Overall, it’s a cool little building game that casual gamers or fans of the genre will want to check out. You can pick up Glu Mobile’s Small Street in the Android market for free.
