Ever want to play a Rougelike game set in space? If so, today’s your lucky day thanks to the cleverly named Asterogue from Real Human Games.
Asterogue lets you take on hundreds of evil robots and turn them into scrap… literally. You’ll battle on platforms throughout The Onion, laying robots to waste and scavenging their remains for scrap and modules. Once you’ve defeated a series of enemies you can head back to your ship to save your modules or travel deeper into The Onion to risk it all.
The combat in Asterogue is swipe-based and easy to get a handle on, and as for the modules — that’s what you attack with and there are around 8 million distinct weapons modules to discover in the game. It’s a bold claim, and one I plan on putting to the test over the next few weeks. When you factor in three worlds to explore and quick play mode you’ve got yourself a helluva game with quite a bit of depth.
I’ve been on an Indie kick lately, and Asterogue is a game I’m glad I stumbled across. I’ve just scratched the surface of things, but it’s been a blast thus far. It’s also worth noting that Asterogue has no shady permissions or in-app purchases. It’s also ad-free, and you can get if for free which is becoming rare these days. That and the game itself have definitely made me a Real Human Games fan rather quickly. If you’re looking for an awesome Roguelike with robots, look no further than Asterogue.
