Long before Thor was a Marvel hero, he was a god in Norse mythology which means anyone can technically make a “Thor” game. Animoca has done just that with Thor: Lord of Storms and it’s interesting to see someone else’s take on the hammer-wielding Norse God.
Thor: Lord of Storms is an Action & Adventure game that follows Thor on his journey to defeat the forces that hail the coming of Ragnarok. It’s also a portal defense game of sorts as each stage requires you to defend your portal while attempting to destroy your opponent’s dark gate. You can charge forward or retreat as well as summon a little help from your home world. You’ll not only get to fight with Thor, but you’ll also get to battle with a few of his friends like Freya and Brunhilde. Odin, Tyr, and Loki also make appearances in case you’re wondering. I’m not sure how much depth the game has just yet, but there are plenty of upgrades for your heroes, warriors, and portals.
I haven’t spent much time with Thor: Lord of Storms, but I definitely like what I’ve seen so far. It’s a more traditional take on Thor than you would get in a Marvel game, and it has a lot of polish with it’s cool, stylized graphics and voice acting.
