If you love Angry Birds and Star Wars today’s your lucky day as Rovio has unleashed Angry Birds Star Wars. The Force is strong in this game, and I’m very happy to say it’s just as fun as we thought it would be.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you knew this game was coming, and I must say Rovio has done an outstanding job with the pop culture mash-up known as Angry Birds Star Wars. Each bird from the series represents a character from the movie complete with Jedi Powers. Early on you’ll get Obi-Wan Blackbird who comes complete with that famous brown cloak and the power of the force, but as the game progresses you’ll unlock new Star Wars themed birds with new abilities. You’ll need your wits and the entire crew of birds to take on the Pig Troopers and Darth Pork Vader as you play through 80 awesome levels including Tatooine and the Pig Star. Star Wars Angry Birds has C-3PO and R2-D2 bonus levels and you can unlock 40 Dagobah Challenge Levels with Jedi Master Yoda through an in-app purchase. Guess what I just bought? I could really go on and on about all the cool things you can do, but I’ll save that for the full review as I’m itching to get back to the game.
Star Wars Angry Birds is just as awesome as we thought it would be although I cringe a bit to think how much S.W.A.B. (Star Wars Angry Birds) swag we’re going to see at Christmas time. Yeah, I just came up with that and how it sticks… S.W.A.B. Swag, tell me that’s not catchy. If you’ve become a bit burned out on Angry Birds this game is still worth a look for the Star Wars factor and if you’re a fan of both I hope you didn’t explode when you used the force as Obi-Wan Blackbird. I plan on playing this one the rest of the day so expect a full and very nerdy review within the next couple of days. If you’re ready to get your Star Wars on you can pick up the free version or the HD version of Angry Birds Star Wars for $2.99.
