I’ve always enjoyed a good Space Shooter, and there’s a new Android game out that fits that bill called Star Splitter from StepGames Inc.
Star Splitter lets you become an intergalactic pilot in the deeps of space and perform tasks for everyone from the Rebel Alliance to the Science Corporation. The missions vary depending who you’re working for and there looks to be around 60 or so in all. Some of the early ones I tried involved collecting crystals, destroying asteroids, and wiping out enemies. At the end of your mission (or when you die) you’re given a score and some credits to spend which can be used to outfit your ship or buy a new one. Star Splitters gives you 3 different ships to choose from; you’ll start out with the base model and can buy the next one up with credits but the last one dubbed the Flying Dutchman will have to be bought outright at $2.99. As for the upgrades there are around 80 different ones, and they vary between armor, weapons, equipment, and satellite-droids.
Verdict
I haven’t spent much time with Star Splitter, but so far I’ve liked what I’ve seen. Graphically the game’s very impressive and looks great on my S3, but the controls could use a little work as you’re targeting pointer is always a little off from where you’re actually headed. That’s not a deal breaker by any means, but it definitely needs tuned up. Either way, if you’re into space shooters it’s a game that’s well worth a look and you can pick it up for free on Google Play.
