Dead as Disco has exploded onto the scene with over 200,000 copies sold in less than a week, climbing into Steam’s Top 10 Best-Selling Games while earning a 96 percent Overwhelmingly Positive user rating across more than 4,700 reviews. The rhythm beat-em-up from Brain Jar Games launched into Early Access on May 5, 2026, and it’s quickly proving itself as a serious contender for one of the year’s most memorable indie surprises.

After months of online virality thanks to a very generous demo, Dead as Disco is finally ready to hit the stage in Early Access. The game puts you in the neon-soaked shoes of Charlie Disco, a deceased drummer brought back from the dead to battle his way through former bandmates turned corporate sellouts. It masterfully blends 3D beat-em-up combat with some sick beats, where every punch, kick, and counter must sync to the music’s rhythm to maximize damage and style points.

Early Access includes the first arc of the campaign along with challenges, fashion, and a soundtrack with over 30 songs. Critics are calling it one of the best indie games they’ve ever played, with IGN praising the game as all killer no filler, while popular content creators like Maximilian Dood and Moist Cr1tikal have been flooding social media with enthusiastic clips. Currently, over 4,500 players are online, with the game reaching an all-time high of 8,412 concurrent players on Steam.

What makes Dead as Disco stand out is its My Music feature, letting players import their own tracks for endless custom challenges. Brain Jar Games has unveiled an ambitious Early Access roadmap throughout 2026, targeting a full 1.0 launch in 2027.

Have you jumped into Dead as Disco yet? What songs are you bringing into the fight?
