| We got a chance to chat with the creators of the cool online game The Darkness Project 4 Team Battle. They (the company’s name is Javelin) recently added Fortumo’s mobile payments to their game! Maxim, the technical project manager, explains the idea of the game as “to bring the futuristic scenario like you might recognize from Unreal Tournament to your browser”. Basically, you customize your character’s looks and outfit with new more powerful weapons and artifacts. So how exactly are they using Fortumo mobile payments and how did this game come about? In TDP4 you can use mobile payments to fill in your account with either cash or coins (i.e. virtual credit), which you can then use to buy more powerful weapons, artifacts or participate in tournaments. According to the Javelin, mobile payments is the easiest way for paying in your online game and has the biggest number of billable users. Knowing this, it was clear that mobile payments is the way to go with and the idea to include micro-transactions in the game was born. “Only mobile payments cover a wide range of countries and do not require big investments to connect”, states Maxim. All three guys agree that there were no difficulties with integrating Fortumo and great quality of support has been a big asset. Maxim says right now mobile payments are the only way to pay on sites that do not support their own billing methods. Adding Fortumo has increased their profits and also introduced revenues from new countries. The game started out in 2008 with just one Flash developer, Anton. Shortly after Maxim joined and with his skills in server-side developing a second version was out. Then content that could be bought by PayPal or mobile was added. Soon after Aleksei joined and added new graphics, redesigned levels. The new version was named simply TDP4: Team Battle. source: http://blog.fortumo.com/tdp4-team-battle/ |
