Nazara Tech to distribute US-based international gaming giant’s catalogue of mobile games

Leading Mobile games developer Nazara Technologies today announced its alliance with US-based Electronic Arts (EA) to distribute the international gaming giant’s catalogue of mobile games across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.


Through this tie-up, Nazara is also eying revenues to the tune of Rs 100 crore over the next two years. The agreement gives Nazara exclusive rights to distribute EA’smobile games catalogue on all carriers, third party channels, aggregators, retail channels and local OEMs in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This Strategic relationship to target fast growing mobile data market; potential to reach 600 million mobile phone users in India

 

With Indian mobile users poised to take up fast 3G data services and high end gaming, India’s leading mobile games company Nazara Technologies has entered into a strategic relationship with EA Mobile™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), to bring the EA Mobile catalog of world-class brands to over 600 million Indian mobile phone consumers.

The agreement gives Nazara exclusive rights to distribute the EA Mobile catalog on all carriers, third party channels, aggregators, retail channels and local OEMs in India, Sri Lankaand Bangladesh.

 

Talking about the tie-up, Nazara CEO Nitish Mittersain said, “Nazara has seen rapid growth in its market share in the Indian mobile gaming space over the last two years, and our relationship with EA Mobile underlines the credibility we have built in this sector. We see huge potential to grow the overall mobile gaming business while providing maximum value to the end consumers. Also, with the advent of 3G in a bigger way later this year, we feel that the EA Mobile catalog of games will put mobile gaming at the forefront of 3G content consumption allowing carriers and local OEMs to differentiate their proposition for these new services.

 

Expressing his happiness on the occasion, Mr. Franck Villet, EA Mobile’s Head of Publishing for Asia Pacific said, “With its strong grasp of Indian telecom market, consumers and trends − along with a strong established base with various operators − Nazara Technologies is an ideal collaborator for an important market such as India.”

We see tremendous possibility in the Indian market, and are giving consumers access to EA’s world-class brands on their mobile phones through Nazara.”

 

The tie-up is aimed at opening new channels that cater to the fast growing population of mobile gamers with innovative and exciting games brought to their handsets. Nazara and EA Mobile will work jointly in growing the casual game genre through accessibility and great game play experiences.

 

The long list of Nazara’s partners in India includes names such as Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Loop, Tata Indicom, Reliance India Mobile and Cellebrum, Aircel,Virgin mobiles,Bsnl,Mtnl,Yahoo,Rediff.
