Android Game Review – Baker Business for Android

General

Overview

Baker Business is a Bakery simulation game from Living Code Labs makers of another fun Android game called Horse Stable Tycoon. Their newest sim has you running a Bakery and while it’s quite addictive, it does have a few issues.

Gameplay

Baker Business is a pretty straightforward game and all of your actions will take place in the bakery, kitchen, shop, or inventory. Starting out you’ll want to go straight to the kitchen and check the ingredients for your sole recipe… chocolate chip cookies. Once you get your list ready, you can go to the shop tab and stock up on everything you need. When you have enough ingredients you simple need to click an oven in the kitchen to bake your goodies. The baking is timed, but you can adjust the clock speed to hurry things along. You will want to pay attention to the timer regardless of how you set it, if you leave treats in to long they’ll burn and won’t be worth as much in the bakery. Once you’re done baking, you’ll need to put them in your storefront then you just have to sit back and watch them sell.

Features

You can have up to 10 ovens and there are 10 books full of recipes that can be bought. There are plenty of ingredients to buy as well, but I’d hardly call that exciting. You are allowed to customize your bakeries storefront by changing the colors of the floors, walls, and shelves. Again, all this will cost you as well so you’re going to have to do a lot of baking to deck your place out. The options are sparse and the extras are non-existence, but you can close your bakery, mute the sounds, pause the ovens, and change the game speed.

Verdict

I enjoyed Horse Stable Tycoon and really wanted to like Baker Business, but it just didn’t do it for me. The game does have a little depth, but the graphics are plain and the game feels a little lifeless overall. If I had to sum it up in one word it would be BORING, although I’m sure folks out there will love it for some strange reason. There is a free version of Baker Business you can try while the full version can be had for $2.99. If you want to give the game a go you can find both versions on Google Play.
